I can’t even with this.
“supporting ALL women, no matter whether we agree with their lifestyles or not” is just the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Why am I constantly being told that I can’t have my own opinions? I am NOT putting anyone down or chastising them for doing what they want but I AM allowed to have my own opinions and morals and I AM allowed to stand up for what I believe in.
I AM allowed to disagree with the way another person is living. I AM allowed to think they have more potential. I AM allowed to worry for their safety. I AM allowed to dislike what they are doing with their lives.
I am NOT allowed to force my opinions down their throats but I AM allowed to express my concern in contructive and caring ways.
“Radical Self Love” in theory is a good idea. You should love yourself. And you should be happy and safe and confident in whatever you choose to do in life. As part of this, you should NOT have to set aside your own thoughts/feelings/opinions in order to falsely support another woman’s (person’s) choices and beliefs. “Radical Self Love” should be about finding what you believe in and not falling into marching order behind somone who is pushing their own agenda on you. What if my version of self-love goes against Gala’s Radical Self Love manifesto… then would she support me or not?
I AM allowed to make my own rules regarding my life, my thoughts, my opinion, my beliefs, my body and my decisicions. And just as you wouldn’t support a republican if you are a democrat, I do NOT have to support you if I disagree with your choices.
I WILL continue to be poilte, patient, respectful and sometimes engage in debates about differing opinions on topics. I AM happy to learn about different ways to lead a life other than my own. But I will NOT compromise myself for anything or anyone I don’t agree with.
Sorry Gala, you’ll be one reader down from now on.
